Large Bowl, Glen Lights, Red with Blue Highlights

This beautiful large-size bowl has a modern design of mixed blue oblong forms, with green and red accent strips, that make it a beautiful and captivating table centre piece.  The two layers of overlapping colours create different hues as the bowl casts its colourful shadow upon its setting.  The rim has been hand-ground and polished to a matt finish and the flat surface reveals the depth of the coloured glass pieces. 

Made from two layers of hand-cut coloured glass strips, slightly offset to each other, this bowl starts life as a square.  For the first firing, two layers are fused together and then cold-worked before the third layer is added and fused.  The complete square is then cut into a circle and cold-worked before going into the kiln a final time to form into the mould.  The piece is then cold-worked again to produce the soft matt finish to the rim and soft edges.  The underneath of the bowl has not been cold-worked and retains the texture from the mould.
