The Tahquitz plate celebrates the fun of midcentury modernism by reflecting the more graphic trends of this period incorporating squares and rectangular shapes connected by lines. The colors in this collection are taken from the desert but with a nod to the past, and include orange, lemongrass, and turquoise blue. The bright colors and graphical layout bring to life midcentury design, Palm Springs style!
These plates are great for side salads, appetizers and savories, desserts or any of your favorite treats and nibbles. The fun midcentury design and bright colors enhance any table setting.
Each plate measures approx. 12.5cm x 12.5cm, (5" x 5")
Each plate is made from individually hand-cut pieces of glass that are layered on a single base piece of glass. Fine strands of glass are used to connect the pieces in a linear design. The arrangement of the pieces and the colors can vary from plate-to-plate, making each one unique. The pictures show representations of the designs.
The assembled glass pieces are then kiln-fused up to a temperature of 1450F to create a single piece of glass. Once cool, the piece is then placed on a mold and in the kiln for a second time up to a temperature of 1225F that softens the glass to the shape of the mold. The entire process can take up to 72 hours.
This bright and fun collection is food safe. However, do not place the glass in a microwave or a dishwasher as this dulls the glass, hand wash only with a mild soap solution.
